Sleepy husband syndrome

heyo! So Ricky works a lot, as you all probably know.  He is such an awesome worker.  Last week his work gave him a raise!! I am so proud of him.. he's great.  But he has a bad case of the sleepies.  He is always tired which is a bummer but we're grateful that he has such a great job so it all evens out :)

Here are some pictures of our new living room.  We just got the couch last week and we love it.. It is pretty comfy and fits great in our little place.  And we bought the tables off ksl for a good deal :)

As for my externship hunt, no luck quite yet :( I'm going to keep looking around.  Pediatricians offices are really busy this time of year so they don't have the time to train on a new extern. At least that is what they keep telling me.  But i'm going to keep looking!

Wish me luck! :)

a little bit of this and a little bit of that...

Hey y'all! Things have just been a goin' over here in the Schumann home.  Ricky works like a crazy person.  The last couple of weeks he has worked on average 13 hour days. Not cool :( This is definitely going to take some getting used to but it is just in the summer so that makes it more bearable. I am proud and grateful for all his hard work though :)

I am almost done with schooool!! Yipee! I plan to finish on Monday and then off to searching for externships.  I am going to try to extern at a pediatrician's office.. I think it would be fun. The other day in class I got to take measurements on a 6 month old baby (length, weight, etc).  He was so adorable and chubby. And he cooperated with me the whole time! It was great.

We finally got around to swimming in our apartment's pool.. way fun.  We went night swimming. It was a blast! Anyone is invited to come over and swim with us ( I mean come on, who wouldn't want to swim with us, right?) lol :) There are tables and a place to barbecue too.  It's da bomb.

And (drum roll).. Ricky finally registered for school! (which is amazing considering his VERY limited time).  He chose to his major to business with emphasis in general business.  He registered for a few classes for the fall and feels really good about it.

We also got to go to The Bees game last Saturday night. Ricky's work gave us free box seat tickets.  We had a delicious barbecue and then watched the game. I haven't been to a lot of baseball games and didn't realize what a risk they were.  There were balls flying everywhere! Occasionally a batter will hit a fly ball into the crowd and if it is high enough people will have time to become aware and try to catch it.. so not too bad.  BUT once during the game the batter hit it and it came racing backwards and hit the back fence 10 feet away from us super hard.. it was in direct line of people's faces.  Luckily no one was sitting right where it it. And of course, I was freaked out. Don't know if I will go to another game ;) Pow, lights out! But all in all, we had a great time and there were AWESOME fireworks at the end.

And Lake Powell is 6 weeks away!!! We are so excited. We have been looking to buy a used wakeboard but haven't found any luck yet.  If anyone who is reading this happens to have a wakeboard they don't use and would like to sell.. let us know! My parents also bought a huge tube called the "Great Big Mable" and it sits like 4 people and we can't wait to try it out.

So we got a coffee table and a couple matching end tables off ksl and they're supposed to be delivering our new couch today.  I'm pretty excited to almost have an actual living room! We have been using one little couch for the last little bit so it will be nice to actually have nice furniture that we purchased! That is one of the most fun things about marriage.. making decisions together. We work as a team to figure things out.. it's a lot of fun.

We got the opportunity to clean the Draper Temple last night... wonderful experience.  It would do it again in a heart beat.  Ricky and I had a great time cleaning special rooms in the temple, just the two of us.  It really wasn't hard considering the temple is always clean to begin with so I kind of felt like we didn't do much! But it was great and I would definitely recommend signing up for it if you get the opportunity :)

Count your MANY blessings.

It is so easy to get caught up in all the things we lack
and all the things we don't have
and all the things everyone else can do and we can't.
Sometimes I just stop and realize..
WOW I AM BLESSED!
My medical class has really made me realize how PRECIOUS life is.
It takes more than we all know just for our heart to beat
and to breath
and to talk
and to move
and to function how us humans do!
Life really is a miracle.
And it is inevitable that we take it for granted.
Our bodies are beyond our comprehension..
We were made with so much precision.
It is a true gift from our Heavenly Father.
He loves us and has a plan for us.

MY HUSBAND, RICKY??

I have felt so much gratitude in my heart lately for Ricky and the great influence he has been to me since the day I met him.  He has only brought me up and made me a better person.  I love meeting people who  help me "upgrade" my life if you will... and he has done just that and more.  We make a great team (at least I think so) :).  I am so grateful for our temple marriage and the sealing power that comes with that. I am so grateful that he is a worthy priesthood holder and can use the keys of the priesthood in our home and in our life. What a true blessing. I really really lucked out :)

  We are the coolest :D

So here is the latest with the chicken coop. We got it all primed and caulked (my mom did ALL of the caulking-- she LOVES doing it).  Now all we have to do is paint! I am proud to say I dug a couple of the trenches for the chicken wire to go into :) It has been fun working on this and this last time we got everyone to come out and help with it.

They finally got the chickens in there

I love this.. Leo just loves everyone and wants everyone's attention.
Ricky just won't give it to him... hahaha
